Schedule for Saturday (January 12, 2019)
The first rounds of 3x3x3 Cube, 2x2x2 Cube, 4x4x4 Cube, 5x5x5 Cube, 3x3x3 Blindfolded, 3x3x3 One-handed and Pyraminx will be run in groups. These groups are pre-determined. It is important that you know which groups of each event you are in. A summary of groups can be found here while you can find an individual card with your groups here. Each competitor will be provided with their invididual card at registration.
For each event except 3x3x3 Cube we will run the groups in order, group 1 first, then group 2 etc. For 3x3x3 Cube we will run the groups in reverse order - group 5 first, then group 4 etc.
Throughout the competition we will also need judges, runners and scramblers. Do not hesitate to ask if you can be helpful in some way! If you have any questions about the groups please email us email@example.com
Northside Christian College shares a campus with Nexus Church, and there is ample parking on site. The best place to park is Car Park 3 or 4, as shown on the map below.
The College Hall is located directly across from the foyer of Nexus Church. Entry is from the carpark side.
There are also several restaurants and shops at Northwest Plaza, 500m down the road on Flockton Street, including Pizza Hut, Subway and Coffee Club.
Congratulations if this is your first ever competition! There are a few important things you need to know before competiting. First of all, please watch this video for a basic overview of the rules and what to expect on the day. Next, be familiar with the WCA regulations, especially for your chosen events. If you are unsure of anything, feel free to ask anyone for help on the day; you'll find that everyone is more than happy to help you. We look forward to seeing you there!
Please bring your lanyard from previous competitions if you have one. As you may know, competitions run most smoothly when everyone helps out as judges and runners, so we strongly encourage everyone to volunteer in some way, when they are not competing. You may want to refresh yourself on the WCA regulations for when you are judging events.
Important Additional Information for those competing in 4x4 Blindfolded
4x4 Blindfolded will be held in a separate venue right next to the College Hall, to avoid noise and distractions once registration opens. We therefore request that those competing in this event arrive promptly between 8:00 and 8:10 so that we can move to the room together, and get underway on time. We also request that, if possible, competitors bring a friend who is familiar with the process of judging a blindfolded solve. If this is not possible, please let us know ahead of time so we know to ensure you have a judge so we can start on time.
Please be aware that 4x4 Blindfolded competitors who arrive after 8:30 will not be permitted to compete in 4x4 Blindfolded.
Live results will be provided via cubecomps. It may take up to an hour between times being set and them appearing online.
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
A cumulative time limit may be enforced (see Regulation A1a2).
The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
